The bride and groom, their parents, the marquee provider and a local restaurant have all been ordered to appear before a special sitting of Longford Circuit court next week following a large wedding party in the town yesterday.
A large marquee was set up on council land adjacent to a halting site on the Strokestown road earlier in the week, with over 100 people attending the party last night in breach of a court order obtained by Longford County Council.
Following an anonymous report on Tuesday about the erection of a marquee at a halting site off the N5, Longford Gardaí and the local Council liaised to prevent a significant gathering of people.

A special sitting of Longford Circuit Court is due to take place this afternoon following the unauthorised erection of a marquee in the town this week.
Judge Keenan Johnson yesterday granted a special order to Longford County Council to secure the removal of the tent which was erected on Tuesday to accommodate guests attending a Traveller wedding.
However, the Council was unable to execute the order fully, and despite Gardai and local authority officials monitoring the scene until 5pm on Wednesday , around 100 people did enter the marquee for the party.

A man charged with the assault of three people, including an arresting garda, has pleaded guilty before Judge Keenan Johnson at Longford Circuit Court and will reappear in October when a probation report and victim impact statements are expected to be furnished to the court.
Jason Flynn, 6 St Joseph’s Terrace, Granard, Co Longford, was charged with two counts of section 3 assault and one count of section 2 assault at a bar in Ballymahon on January 21, 2019.
It was previously heard at District Court level that Mr Flynn had allegedly assaulted a bar man, who fell against an unlit fireplace and was knocked unconscious. Another man who tried to intervene received facial injuries in the struggle.

A man charged with serious violent assault on his former partner has had his case adjourned to the October sittings of Longford Circuit Court and will face a lengthy suspended prison sentence if a positive probation report is furnished to the court on that date, or a custodial sentence if the report is negative.
Brendan Kelleher (33) of Drumlish Hill, Drumlish, Co Longford has also been ordered to have €5,000 in court on that day by way of compensation to the victim. He paid €2,000 to the court last week.
