A man who repeatedly spat at gardaí during his arrest after he allegedly assaulted his former partner, is due to reappear before Longford District Court on June 22 for finalisation of the case.
Marcin Rosada of 6 Oaklandsdale, Longford, appeared charged with one count of section 3 assault on a female and three counts of section 2 assault on a number of gardaí.
It was also alleged in court that Mr Rosada spat at a Polish interpreter while in garda custody following his arrest.
Solicitor for the defence, John Quinn, told the court that the spitting was “illogical” and out of character for his client.

A man who allegedly spat at several gardaí and a female Polish interpreter while under arrest for a section 3 assault last week was remanded in custody following last Friday’s sitting of Granard District Court and was released on bail following Tuesday s sitting of Longford District Court.
Marcin Rosada of 6 Oaklandsdale, Longford, appeared charged with one count of section 3 assault on a female and three counts of section 2 assault on a number of gardaí, with further charges likely in due course.
Sgt Enda Daly, for the state, told Judge Seamus Hughes that Mr Rosada spat at gardaí on numerous occasions and that the state would be strongly objecting to bail due to the seriousness of the charges.

It was alleged gardai stumbled upon his involvement after he was stopped by officers on July 15, 2020 and a package, estimated to contain €20,000 worth of cannabis and €30,000 worth of cocaine, was discovered on the back seat.
Longford man to reappear for possession of stick used to cause injury

A man charged with possession of a two-foot long stick, which was used to cause injury to another man has had his case put back to February 16 for disclosure.
James Donoghue, 3 St Mary’s Street, Drumlish, was also before Longford District Court last Tuesday for breach of bail.
Sgt Enda Daly explained that Mr Donoghue had breached several bail conditions including a breach of curfew on January 1, 2021, and a number of failures to sign on.
He will reappear before Longford District Court on February 16.

Man who forced six gardaí into isolation to reappear at Longford District Court

A man who tested positive for Covid-19, forcing six gardaí to go into isolation for 14 days has been given a set of strict bail conditions and is due to reappear at Longford District Court on February 16 for DPP directions.
Hughie Nevin, with an address at 7 St Micheal’s Road, Longford, was arrested on December 19 and charged with the assault of a female.
Mr Nevin insisted that, while he did test positive for Covid-19, he wasn’t symptomatic and said he quarantined as soon as he found out he was positive.
