An argument about finances escalated to a woman fatally shooting a man Friday night in Mountville, according to court documents.
Cherrelle Byrd, 34, of the 400 block of Hillside Drive, is in Lancaster County Prison after police say she shot and killed Richard Williams following the argument.
Byrd married Williams in July 2012, according to Lancaster County marriage records. Divorce records indicate Byrd and Williams divorced in 2017.
Williams was pronounced dead at Lancaster General Hospital less than three hours after police arrived at the Hillside Drive residence, where they found Byrd visibly upset and crying, repeating, I shot him, according to the affidavit of probable cause.Â
On Friday night, a Mountville-area man was shot and killed inside his home following an argument, according to West Hempfield Township police.
West Hempfield Township police responded to a call at the 400 block of Hillside Drive for a dispute between two adults. When they arrived at the scene, they found Richard Williams with a single gunshot wound, police said.Â
Williams was then taken the Lancaster General Hospital where he died from his injuries.Â
Cherrelle Byrd, 34, has been charged with Criminal Homicide in relation to Williams death, police said.Â
West Hempfield Township police have stated that the homicide investigation is in relation to a domestic incident and that there is no threat to the public.

The hearing was Miller’s only opportunity to hear about evidence that will be submitted against her prior to heading to trial.
She appeared on television in the Lancaster County Courthouse with the one television faced the judge and included a camera so she could see the judge and attorneys reactions.
Prior to the hearing, Miller’s attorney Robert Beyer informed her that her parents were in the courtroom, according to PennLive. He then commented on how long her hair was and how she is not writing to him enough, she laughed and responded that she would send him a letter.
