LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Authorities say a traffic stop on Interstate 80 turned into a high-speed pursuit and manhunt that ended in Lincoln. The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office says deputies stopped a driver in a White Jeep with Minnesota plates near mile marker 391 around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. The driver sped away towards Lincoln, reaching speeds of 100 mph, LSO.
Bryce Kummer was being held at the Diagnostic & Evaluation Center for safe-keeping as he awaited trial for allegedly killing his mother, according to court records.
Sales of e-cigarettes and nicotine products to minors continued to rise in 2020, according to the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department.
The percentage of vape product sales to minors during compliance checks in 2020 rose to 13.5%, almost double the 7.25% recorded in 2019. There was also a 1.5% increase in sales of other tobacco products to minors.
Effective Oct. 1, the Nebraska Legislature changed state law to raise the legal age to possess tobacco and vapor products to 21 from 19.
The Health Department works with the Lincoln Police Department and Lancaster County Sheriff s Office to identify stores that have been making illicit sales, which could include an adult buying vape products for a minor.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Chris Beutler, the former mayor who served the City of Lincoln for 12 years, tells Channel 8 News he was shocked to hear the news of Lincoln Police Chief Jeff Bliemeister stepping down to accept a job in the private sector.
Beutler, who appointed Bliemeister in 2016, says he believes the Chief has worked hard to serve the residents of Lincoln for the last four years.
