A horse and buggy failed to stop at a stop sign and crossed into the path of a trash truck in a Lancaster County crash that killed three children and injured four other youths, authorities said.
Pennsylvania State Police said the horse and buggy was traveling west on Black Road Monday and approaching the Little Britain Road North intersection when the crash occurred.
The horse and buggy failed to stop at a stop sign around 7:50 a.m. and crossed into the path of a tri-axle trash truck headed south on Little Britain Road North, according to state police.

Three children were killed in Pennsylvania on Monday in a two-vehicle accident involving a horse and buggy, authorities said.

The release said a horse and buggy carrying seven “juvenile” occupants was approaching an intersection at Little Britain Road North and Black Road heading west, while a tri-axle trash truck drove south on Little Britain Road North.

Three children were killed and four others hospitalized after a trash truck struck a horse and buggy in Lancaster, Pa. on Monday.
The horse and buggy carrying the seven minors failed to stop at a properly posted stop sign at the intersection of Black Road and Little Britain Road North and proceeded into the intersection, Pennsylvania State Police said in a press release.
The trash truck slammed into the buggy, and four of the occupants were transported to Lancaster General Hospital for their injuries. They were later transferred to Hershey Medical Center.
