Man charged with arson, reckless endangerment following domestic incident in Lancaster

LANCASTER, Pa. Mamelto Gonzalez, 33, has been charged with arson, reckless endangerment, and several other charges following an incident in Lancaster on May 13.
At approximately 11 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Almanac Avenue. The caller told police that Gonzalez had set fire to the living room and there were people trapped on the second floor.
Upon arrival, officers located Gonzalez outside of the residence and smoke was noticeable on the inside. The officers forced their way into the home and found that there was no longer an active fire, but the couch was smoldering and there was smoke throughout the home.

State troopers were called to help Lancaster city police with crowd control in the aftermath of the shooting death of Muñoz, who was shot by a Lancaster city police officer in the 300 block of Laurel Street on September 13.Â
Police were called to the house at 306 Laurel Street for a domestic disturbance. Muñoz, 27, was seen running after a police officer with a knife in his hand before an officer shot him four times near his home.
The death of a Lancaster man found on a city sidewalk last month with fatal injuries has been ruled a homicide, Lancaster County Coroner Dr. Stephen Diamantoni said Thursday.
According to the Lancaster Bureau of Police, Hipolito Gonzalez, 61, died of severe head injuries at a hospital after a neighbor found him unconscious shortly before 7 p.m. on March 18 on the sidewalk at 33 Dorwart St.
Diamantoni said Thursday the cause of Gonzalezâs death was a traumatic brain injury. He declined to provide any other information, citing the active investigation.

Police responded early Thursday morning to shots fired into an occupied residence in the 600 block of High Street, according to the Lancaster Bureau of Police.
