Dogs Monthly My 10-year-old Labrador Retriever, Ellen, enrolled with my vet practice’s weight management clinic two years ago, weighing 40kg. She achieved her target of 30kg earlier this year and looks fantastic. However, when I called in at the practice to weigh Ellen recently, I found that she has started putting on weight again – not very much, but I really don’t want her to put on any more.  I am feeding her the same amount of the same food that I’ve been feeding since she reached her target weight, and I have checked with all the family that no one is giving her extras. What can have gone wrong?

Now, a new study has found that smaller dogs are almost always more aggressive than their larger counterparts.  Miniature Poodles and Miniature Schnauzers top the list of most aggressive dogs in a new study, published in Scientific Reports. Larger dogs including Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers and Lapponian Herders were found to be the most docile.

Repeat.” For the team at “Fideaux, an outfitter for dogs and cats” in downtown St. Helena, it is a fitting mantra as they celebrate their 25th anniversary this month. A mainstay in St. Helena since May 1996, Fideaux is the brainchild of two creative entrepreneurs Jennifer Blevans and Becky Yost. The idea for this unique store came about when Jennifer and her two Labrador Retrievers, Sydney and Melbourne, moved from Southern California to the Napa Valley in 1995. Jennifer soon met Becky Yost and her standard poodle, Zoe. Looking for career changes, Jennifer and Becky noticed there were no retailers in the smaller Upvalley communities catering to either local pet owners or the estimated 2.5 million tourists that visit the wine country each year. (WAVE) - The char, the destruction, the smell of smoke apparent. There’s no barking or wagging of tails. “No words,” Ron Kraemer, the owner of Doggy Style Kennels said, shaking his head and fighting back tears. Kraemer showed WAVE 3 News one of his favorite videos of his dogs, wagging their tails and playing inside of their kennels. Tragedy occurred Friday night, as 54 of his dogs died after a fire destroyed those kennels.
