Ridgecrest detectives seize $2 million in marijuana plants

Detectives seized over 600 mature marijuana plants worth an estimated $2 million in Ridgecrest Tuesday. The Ridgecrest Police Department arrested Zhisong Huang, 37, for the cultivation of marijuana and theft of utilities over $400 after Detective Erik Hallmark executed a search warrant on his residence, finding the “extensive cultivation operation”. Huang allegedly bypassed an electrical panel in order to power the illegal operation. After observing Huang, a non-Ridgecrest resident, leave the site, a traffic stop was conducted and a search warrant was served, according to the press release.

Kern County Fire Department roasts barbecue thieves on Facebook

The trusty grill had provided meals for the department for years, according to David Nelson, Kern County Fire Department’s President.  Instead of publishing a press release about the incident, Nelson took to Facebook to post about the theft. “To the person/s who borrowed/stole our barbecue last evening, we hope it serves you as well and as faithfully as it has served our organization and the community events we used it to support. Perhaps you could even return it once you re done,” the post started.
