Just an impossibility to provide date for relaxed COVID-19 restrictions, Pritzker says

Normal, IL, USA / www.cities929.com Apr 9, 2021 2:31 PM (The Center Square) – Illinois’ business community is looking for clarity, or even for a date certain, of when they can get their operations back up and running more fully, but Gov. J.B. Pritzker says COVID-19 won’t let him do that. Illinois Hotel & Lodging Association President Michael Jacobson Thursday told Illinois state lawmakers the industry is looking for a two-fold plan he said will help the industry rebound from the COVID-19 pandemic. One part of the plan is to follow other states and provide limited liability protections for businesses that follow COVID-19 mitigation.

Lee s Lanes - A Cautionary Tale

Lee s Lanes - A Cautionary Tale Geneseo Republic Brett Lohman of Geneseo is afraid even with the Covid Hospitality Grant that he was awarded, he may have trouble reopening his business. That s because he never got the money. Nearly a year ago, Lohman applied for an Hospitality Emergency Grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. During the initial phase of the Covid 19 lockdown, all non-essential businesses were ordered closed. The purpose of these grants was to help retain employees, pay the utilities and bridge the gap until reopening could occur.  On April 8, 2020, he was notified he had been awarded a $10,000 grant to help keep the business afloat during the subsequent months. On April 24, Lohman went online to sign the necessary documents via DocuSign. When the direct deposit documents were done, some of the information did not populate to the proper places, so Lohman corrected them, and uploaded them according to instructions.

My S corporation was listed as dissolved for about a year a few years ago. My accountant accidentally submitted the annual fee a few weeks late, and it took that long to straighten everything out. That’s a different problem, of course. SoS may take credit cards or EFTs now, and if it doesn’t it should. ===And some of those businesses appear to have just not renewed their state paperwork.=== 1990s IL GOP would have been all about using this as an example of how burdensome and difficult it could be for a mom and pop small business to navigate a complicated web of state regulations and registrations.

Chicago region emerges as a draw for data centers

Provided It isn’t often that state and local government in Illinois get singled out for a pro-business mindset, but that’s the message coming from people connected to a thriving submarket in industrial real estate data centers. As development projects go, data centers aren’t the flashiest things. Some have occupied space in attractive old buildings, the best example being the old R.R. Donnelley plant at 350 E. Cermak Road, reputedly among the largest such facilities in the world. The newer ones are custom built in industrial areas, low-slung buildings that are necessarily drab, although some have lately dressed up the designs. They are mostly sprawling boxes for the equipment that makes our daily activities possible, be they streaming movies, storing work in a data cloud, trading stocks or riding in a vehicle tricked out with the latest tech.
