St Lawrence County Planning Board OKs Massena greenhouse with stipulations

MASSENA â The St. Lawrence County Planning Board has signed off on a special use permit and site plan for a proposed greenhouse on County Route 42 in Massena, but with some stipulations. Confluent Energies, Inc. plans to construct the greenhouse on two currently vacant pieces of property owned by Arconic on County Route 42. St. Lawrence County Planner II Dakota B. Casserly told the Planning Board Thursday night that the project will be done in two phases. Phase one will include the construction of a 10-acre, 434,853-square-foot, high-tech greenhouse to grow leafy greens such as lettuce. He said phase two would be a duplication of phase one.

11% of St Lawrence County respondents say they have no broadband access; others urged to take survey

Saturday, April 10, 2021 - 5:56 pm Over 1,500 residents and businesses have responded to the St. Lawrence County broadband survey so far, but more responses are being sought to ensure a clear understanding of the locations that are unserved or underserved by broadband access. In particular, more responses are needed from the towns of Louisville, Waddington, Madrid, Gouverneur, Norfolk, Hopkinton, Edwards, Fowler and Oswegatchie, although additional surveys from all towns are welcome, according to the St. Lawrence County Planning Office. The survey can be taken from any computer or mobile device, including a smart phone, at this link: www.stlawrencecountybroadband.com. In an effort to improve broadband access in the county, the survey project was launched in February to collect data about broadband access and affordability throughout the county.

Broadband needs survey begins in St Lawrence County

WATERTOWN â A survey to help determine the needs and opportunities for broadband in St. Lawrence County starts Friday. The project between county officials and the Development Authority of the North Country is designed to show the location of unserved and underserved areas in the county in terms of broadband access. Similar surveys have also been done in Lewis County in November and Jefferson County in January. The data thatâs collected from St. Lawrence County residents and businesses will be used to develop an action plan to address broadband needs in the county. The survey will be available until April 30.
