OSWEGATCHIE â The St. Lawrence County Planning Board has recommended approval for a special use permit and site plan for a 5 megawatt solar array in Oswegatchie, but with several stipulations.
Planner II Dakota Casserly said the Wadhams Solar, LLC facility will be located at 6866 state Highway 37, near the Wadhams Hall Seminary. He said the project was referred to the St. Lawrence County Planning Board because of its proximity to state Highway 37. The land will be leased from Wadhams Hall Seminary.
Mr. Casserly said several other arrays are located in the surrounding area.
âSo, lots of activity going on in the town of Oswegatchie for solar, for sure,â he said.
MASSENA â The St. Lawrence County Planning Board has signed off on a special use permit and site plan for a proposed greenhouse on County Route 42 in Massena, but with some stipulations.
Confluent Energies, Inc. plans to construct the greenhouse on two currently vacant pieces of property owned by Arconic on County Route 42.
St. Lawrence County Planner II Dakota B. Casserly told the Planning Board Thursday night that the project will be done in two phases. Phase one will include the construction of a 10-acre, 434,853-square-foot, high-tech greenhouse to grow leafy greens such as lettuce. He said phase two would be a duplication of phase one.
POTSDAM â A new facility representing the start of further expansion for LC Drives has been approved by the Potsdam Town Planning Board.
The board voted to issue a special use permit following a public hearing Tuesday night for the companyâs site plan and request to construct a 30,000-square-foot light manufacturing facility at 6968 Route 56. LC Drives develops permanent magnet technologies for electric motors and generators, and directs its work to support renewable energy in marine propulsion, wind turbine generators and industrial motors for manufacturing facilities.
The town decision comes after the St. Lawrence County Planning Board granted conditional approval for the project last month.
