Massena man charged with dozens of counts, including rape and assault

Monday, April 26, 2021 - 6:01 pm MASSENA - A Massena man has been charged in a case that resulted in dozens of counts against him, including rape, sexual abuse, assault, and strangulation. Media J. Provost, 35, was charged April 22, following the investigation that started Dec. 15, police said. Provost The charges include nine counts each of first-degree reckless endangerment and unlawful imprisonment; six counts each of first-degree criminal sexual act and child endangerment; and three counts each of second-degree menacing, second-degree assault, first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree rape, criminal obstruction of breathing, and strangulation. Provost was arraigned in Massena court by Judge Joe Brown and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility, Canton, in lieu of $25,000 bail or $50,000 bond, police said.

Gouverneur man arrested by State Police on child pornography charges

Friday, April 23, 2021 - 6:11 pm GOUVERNEUR Scott L. Briggs, 52, of Gouverneur was arrested on April 23 subsequent to an investigation conducted by the New York State Police Computer Crime Unit. A search warrant was executed at Briggs’ residence, and State Police said he was found to possess child pornography. He was charged with promoting a sexual performance by a child and possessing a sexual performance by a child. Briggs was ticketed and scheduled to appear in Gouverneur Town Court at a future date. Due to a violation of the terms of his parole, Briggs was remanded to St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility, State Police said.

(WWNY) - State police charged a Gouverneur man Friday with child porn-related crimes, after raiding his home. Scott Briggs, 52, of Johnstown Street, was charged with Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child and Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child. Because he was already on parole, he was ordered held at the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility in Canton. Several state police vehicles were seen on Johnstown Street Friday morning, and police said a search of Briggs’ home turned up child pornography.

Gladle, 25, Gouverneur, was charged Sunday, Jan. 31 at 11:15 p.m. for second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance – meth, and unlawful disposal of meth. Police said on Nov. 23, 2020 Gladle possessed approximately 3.6 ounces of methamphetamine and disposed a red and black backpack containing methamphetamine in the yard of the Family Dollar store in Gouverneur which contained an active one-pot methamphetamine lab.
