Seaway Career and Technical Education Center turns to remote learning

NORWOOD — The Seaway Career and Technical Center in Norwood pivoted to remote learning for Thursday and Friday because of “multiple cases of COVID-19” within the school. “Due to multiple cases of COVID-19 within our school and limited staffing as a result of mandatory quarantines, we will pivot to remote instruction for the remainder of the week with a return to in-person learning on January 11,” school officials said in a Wednesday Facebook posting. In a separate post, they said they had been informed of a positive case of COVID-19 among the school’s Criminal Justice students. “In order to protect the health and safety of all, students and staff who may have come in contact with the individual will be released immediately. Lisbon s Lights on the River donates 4,000 pounds of food to community pantries | Community Giving

LISBON — This season, Lights on the River was forced to only offer its holiday light display five nights due to pandemic guidelines, but was still overcome with community support — 4,000 pounds of it. Lights on the River, which holds the holiday light show annually at the Lisbon Beach and Campground, is a nonprofit organization that raises money, as well as non-perishable food donations, for local food pantries. Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and knowing the impact Lights on the River traditionally has on those in need, the group worked with the St. Lawrence County Public Health Department to continue the show for its 11th year.

SLC has 442 known active cases of COVID-19; 35 deaths confirmed from the virus

Wednesday, December 23, 2020 - 6:11 am St. Lawrence County Public Health Department officials say the county’s COVID-19 death toll is now at 35, there were 48 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the county on Tuesday, Dec. 22. There are 442 active cases, up from 437 active cases on Monday. Health officials say 23 of the cases are hospitalized, down two. Public Health will also post the maps on their Facebook page, @SLCPublicHealth. Health officials said 1,385 cases have been released from isolation. County hospitals have performed 137,396 tests for COVID-19 as of Monday, the most recent date for which data was available. So far, there have been a total of 1,862 confirmed coronavirus cases in St. Lawrence County.
