(WWNY) - Two new COVID-19 deaths and another 141 positive cases were reported Wednesday in the tri-county region. Jefferson County Jefferson County reported Wednesday that another person has died from COVID-19. To date, there have been 8 deaths from the coronavirus. There were also 48 new cases to report in the county. Thirteen people are hospitalized; 328 people are in mandatory isolation and 1,327 are in mandatory quarantine. Since the pandemic began, the county has seen 1,463 positive cases.

St. Lawrence County St. Lawrence County Public Health said Tuesday that another person has died from COVID-19. That brings the total number of deaths since the pandemic began to 27. Officials also said 41 more people have tested positive for the coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed positive cases to date to 1,503. Officials said 375 cases are active and 16 people are hospitalized.

St. Lawrence County St. Lawrence County Public Health said Monday that 26 people have died from COVID-19 - that’s 3 new deaths since public health’s last report last Friday. Officials also said 19 more people have tested positive for the coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed positive cases to date to 1,462. Officials said 355 cases are active and 17 people are hospitalized.

(WWNY) - Ogdensburg Free Academy is going to full remote learning through the end of the year after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19. In a message to the district Monday, superintendent Kevin Kendall said remote learning was to begin today (Tuesday) and continue until school resumes on January 4. OFA staff were instructed to teach from their homes on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Potsdam Central training medical staff to conduct COVID testing on students, employees

Monday, December 14, 2020 - 9:09 am POTSDAM – Potsdam Central School is training its medical staff to conduct rapid COVID testing on students and staff if the region is designated a micro-cluster zone. Governor Andrew M. Cuomo recently released guidelines for schools in designated yellow, orange and red micro-cluster zones to help keep schools open for in-person learning. “The guidelines require schools to complete a certain percentage of COVID-19 tests among in-person staff and students, with a continuation of vigilant symptom and exposure screening conducted daily,” according to Potsdam Central Superintendent Joann Chambers. For a yellow zone, the state has said schools must test 20% of students and staff.
