COVID-19 testing sites in Massachusetts are once again experiencing long lines and wait times, as people hope to receive the results before Christmas.Some people who were waiting to get tested at the state-run drive-thru site outside Lawrence General Hospital reported that they were waiting for three hours Tuesday morning.There was also a steady stream of people waiting in line at one of Boston s free COVID-19 testing sites in the city s Roxbury neighborhood.Dr. Shira Doron, the hospital epidemiologist at Tufts Medical Center, says she fears that the long lines ahead of Christmas signal a repeat of the behavior that happened on Thanksgiving when travel and gatherings led to a spike in COVID-19 cases. She says that another wave of coronavirus infections could further burden the state s health care system. The biggest concern is that we’re actually starting from a higher point, Doron said.
