Kody Wayne Mullins, 19, was arrested at a residence in Keavy.
According to a press release from the Kentucky State Police, “The investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant at a residence in Keavy on January 21, 2021. Equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized and taken to KSP’s forensic laboratory for examination.”
The KSP Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after discovering the suspect directing a juvenile to send him sexually explicit images of her online, stated the press release.
Mullins was charged with three counts of possessing matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance, one count of prohibited use of an electronic communication system to procure a minor (Class-D felonies punishable by one to five years in prison), and one count of promoting a minor under the age of 16 in a sexual performance (Class-B felony punishable by ten to twenty years in prison).

Kentucky State Police say a Laurel County man has been charged with child sexual exploitation offenses. Troopers arrested 19-year-old Kody Lee Mullins as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation. The State Police Electronic Crime Branch started the investigation into Mullins when they found him directing a young person to send him sexually explicit images of herself online. Police obtained a search warrant for a house in Keavy and took equipment used in the commission of the crime. It was taken to their forensic lab for examination. The investigation is ongoing. LONDON, Ky. (LEX 18) â Sheriff John Root didn t want to discuss his social media video post from the weekend, in which he tossed a University of Kentucky basketball t-shirt into a fire.
It all stemmed from Saturday night when the UK basketball team took a knee during the National Anthem prior to tip-off against the Florida Gators.
The players said this action was a message toward the ongoing issues that are taking place in the nation.
Following the game, Laurel County Sheriff John Root expressed his outrage toward the decision to kneel and made a promise about his UK gear.

Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting investigators developed information on the whereabouts of 30-year-old Ashley Lewis and teamed up with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office to take her into custody. Lewis was wanted by the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office for complicity to commit murder in the death of Jeremy Caldwell on December 20. There was even a reward offered for information leading to her arrest. Laurel County deputies had already arrested 39-year-old Robert Brandon Gray and charged him with the murder of Caldwell. Police found Lewis at a house off Cool Springs Road. Sheriff Patrick Robinson and deputies surrounded the home and found her trying to hide in a bedroom. Lewis was then arrested without incident. She was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
