Laurel man facing charges after reportedly threatening ambulance crew with knife

Smith A Laurel County man was arrested Monday after reportedly pulling a knife out on and threatening an ambulance crew who was trying to help his unresponsive wife. Charles B. Smith, 38, had called Laurel 911 center from his residence on Cane Creek Road, approximately 10 miles south of London. He requested an ambulance for his unresponsive wife and according to a Laurel County Sheriff s Office report, he decided to transport her to meet the ambulance crew along the way due to living so far out in the county. The Laurel County Ambulance crew met with him near Penny Lane on KY 229, approximately 2 miles south of London, and upon EMS attempting to assist, Smith reportedly began screaming profanities at both ambulance crew members and threatened to kill and stab them.

During the roadside investigation K-9 Edge alerted on the vehicle resulting in the discovery of suspected methamphetamine. The driver, 46-year-old Corey Grubb of London, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and others. Deputies arrived to find 29-year Jonathon R. Vaughn of London arguing and cursing at a woman outside the apartments. During the investigation Vaughn was determined to be under the influence. He was arrested and charged with public intoxication – controlled substances and disorderly conduct. Laurel County Crash Leads To DUI Arrest

London, KY, USA / SAM 103.9 FM WWEL | Today s Pop Hits Apr 26, 2021 11:37 AM Laurel County Sheriff John Root says Deputy Hobie Daugherty, along with Shift Sgt. John Inman and Deputy James Fox responded to a crash on U.S. 25 about three miles south of London. Deputies arrived to find that 60-year-old Stephen Little of Corbin was driving a pickup when he hit another car that was stopped and waiting to turn. Upon further investigation, they determined Little was driving under the influence of alcohol. Little was arrested and charged with DUI, reckless driving, failure to wear a seatbelt and failure to maintain required insurance. He was taken to the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a North Carolina man who was cursing at and threatening people with a tree limb in the parking lot of a north Corbin business Wednesday night. Michael W. Richardson, 52, of Ridgecrest, North Carolina, was charged with second-degree disorderly conduct, menacing and third-degree terroristic threatening. Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer, said K-9/Shift Sgt. Gary Mehler responded to the scene on West Cumberland Gap Pkwy. at approximately 7:10 p.m. in response to a complaint of a male subject, who was possibly under the influence, cursing at people and threatening them. “Upon arrival at the scene Sgt. Mehler observed the male suspect and noted that he was behaving in a threatening manner with an approximately two-foot tree limb and making threatening comments,” Acciardo stated.
