McNaboe, Cohen retain leadership roles on Manalapan committee
MANALAPAN – Jack McNaboe and Susan Cohen were sworn in to begin serving new three-year terms on the Township Committee in Manalapan during the governing body’s annual reorganization meeting held Jan. 6.
But instead of a crowded municipal meeting room that is the hallmark of reorganization day, when dozens of residents who serve on Manalapan’s boards and commissions mingle with municipal employees and elected state and county officials in a celebration of local government, the 2021 version took place in a virtual manner during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

When Bob Lochmueller played in the NBA the law of the jungle ruled more than the casual blowing of the referee’s whistle.
The National Basketball Association of the 1950s played the same game as the Los Angeles Lakers and Indiana Pacers do now, but there were twists. More elbows were thrown, for one. More punches, too. And fans in some cities were just as likely to poke a visiting player with the sharp end of an umbrella as give them a hello cheer.
No place was rougher than Syracuse, one of just eight cities in a league that had not yet gained a firm foundation on the American sporting landscape. The Nationals, who became the Philadelphia 76ers, were the brief affiliation of Lochmueller before he spent four years coaching the Seymour High boys basketball team.

The competition was held at the Lanzerac wine estate in the Cape wine region on 7 December.
The derby between the two neighbouring countries was organised by Jean Vincent Ridon of the Sommeliers Academy after many other sommelier competitions around the world were cancelled due to the global pandemic.
In addition, the new Sommeliers Association of Zimbabwe needed to choose finalists to represent the nation at any competitions due to be held next year.
After attracting 18 finalists, the Zimbabwean team whittled them down to three; Tawanda Marume, Joseph Dhfana and Job Jovo to take part in the Ubuntu Trophy, with Marume also being selected to represent Zimbabwe at the ASI Best Sommelier of Europe & Africa competition in November 2021.

Pink Marmalade Gin has teamed up with singer and songwriter Sophie Ellis-Bextor to create a limited-edition bottle. The collaboration came about after Ellis-Bextor spotted a life-size Ziggy Stardust horse used by the gin company’s events arm Pink Marmalade Events and contacted founder Isobel Harries wanting to buy it for her upcoming tour. As a thank you, Harries sent the pop star a bottle of her gin, and the rest is history!
Pink Marmalade’s colour-changing gin is packaged in special limited-edition 50cl bottles. The gin contains a blend of 13 botanicals and the gin distiller has also partnered with We Make Events to ensure a percentage of every bottle sold will go towards supporting the events industry after a particularly challenging year.
