DPU Announces New Advanced Metering Infrastructure Installation Project To Begin In White Rock Week Of March 15
COUNTY News:
Utility Metering Solutions (UMS), under contract with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities, will begin installing Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) for the County of Los Alamos starting the week of March 15.
AMI is a method of using radio communication technology to read meters remotely without having to physically access the meters on customers’ properties.
UMS crews, practicing COVID safety protocols, will begin by attaching smart points or communication modules onto the existing water meters in Pajarito Acres. From there, work will progress to La Senda and continue north up to Mirador before crews move to neighborhoods east of Rover.
Local Utility Tree Trimming Begins This Week
COUNTY News:
Under contract with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities, Allied Tree Services is scheduled to trim select trees that are interfering with power lines at various locations throughout the Los Alamos townsite and White Rock.
Crews will begin work this week and will follow COVID-19 safety protocols.
According to department officials, the tree trimming effort is to reduce power outages by removing branches and trees growing either too close to power lines or posing a risk of falling on power lines.
Trimming trees coupled with an aggressive operation and maintenance program supports the Electric Reliability Plan (developed in 2011 and updated in 2014) to reduce the number and scope of power outages in the county.
