Yinka Ilori and Es Devlin have revealed the design of this year’s Brit Awards trophies.
Next month’s ceremony will be the 41
st edition of the Brit Awards, and will take place at London’s O2. This year will be the first time winners will be awarded with two trophies each. The intention is that one can then be given away to someone that each winner “considers worthy” of celebrating.
“An explosion of colour”
The main Brit Award trophy for 2021 sports Ilori’s signature bright colour palette. The designer says the statuette is inspired by his Nigerian heritage.

Ending this year s Oscars on the award for best acting was a decision made prior to the academy announcing nominees, show producer Steven Soderberg said in a new interview.
When the April ceremony made a rare pivot to ending the annual award show with best actor, rather than best picture, as it had for all but one of the past 73 Oscars, viewers assumed it was a plot to wrap up on an emotional note: The late Chadwick Boseman was favored to win for Ma Rainey s Black Bottom, all but ensuring a memorable, tearful acceptance speech from his widow, Simone Ledward Boseman.

If there was ever a time for the Academy Awards to reassert their place at the epicenter of global pop culture, it was this year.
The surprise “Parasite” Best Picture win of 2020 marked the last notable public event before society was forced into lockdown, when the already-fragile fate of movie theaters might have taken its final, irreversible blow. As the world now reopens with vaccinations and cautious optimism abound, the 2021 Oscars could have represented a symbolic bookend to the 14 months of the coronavirus pandemic.
Instead, the Oscars continued to dig their own grave in an April 25 ceremony that ended not with a bang but a whimper.
