LAPD officers reportedly circulated a “Valentine” featuring a photo of George Floyd with the words “You take my breath away.” An investigation is now underway, though it has not been made public how many officers may have been involved in sharing the image or who was responsible for its creation.
On Monday, the Floyd family responded to reports of the offensive Valentine.
“This is beyond insult on top of injury it’s injury on top of death,” the family’s attorney, Ben Crump, said in a statement reported by the
Los Angeles Times. “The type of callousness and cruelty within a person’s soul needed to do something like this evades comprehension and is indicative of a much larger problem within the culture of the LAPD.”
Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced Monday his office will be looking into the shocking George Floyd Valentine-style photo that allegedly circulated around the LA Police Department with the words "Take my breath away."

Prosecutors with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office are reviewing the case for a midday shooting in a gated Sand Canyon neighborhood involving a retired Sheriff’s Department official and a man suspected of crashing his way into the upscale east side enclave.
The case has been presented to the D.A. regarding the Jan. 11 incident and, in the case presented, charges were recommended for the person shot and not the shooter, according to Lt. Charles Calderaro with the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau.
Witnesses of the shooting and previous statements from Sheriff’s Department officials described the following circumstances:
A Valencia man was arrested Thursday morning in connection to the alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl at a Castaic house party, according to law enforcement officials.
Christopher King, 19, was arrested under the charge code of 261(A)(2)PC, which defines rape as “an act of sexual intercourse accomplished with a person not the spouse of the perpetrator” and where the act is done “against a person’s will by means of force, violence, duress, menace or fear of immediate and unlawful bodily injury on the person or another.”
The charge stems from a Castaic house party on 30000 block of Romero Canyon Road in August 2020, when the victim, a 15-year-old girl, was allegedly assaulted by the suspect at a party with approximately 100 people present, according to Sgt. Brian Hudson, of the Special Victims Bureau.
