LOS ANGELES (AP) The woman who returned Lady Gaga’s stolen French bulldogs was among five people arrested in connection with the theft and shooting of the music superstar’s dog walker, Los Angeles police said Thursday.
Detectives do not believe that the thieves initially knew the dogs belonged to the pop star, the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement. The motive for the Feb. 24 robbery, investigators believe, was the value of the French bulldogs which can run into the thousands of dollars.
The dog walker, Ryan Fischer, is recovering from a gunshot wound and has called the violence “a very close call with death” in social media posts. He was walking Lady Gaga’s three dogs named Asia, Koji and Gustav in Hollywood just off the famed Sunset Boulevard when he was attacked.
The watchdog group claims the Los Angeles County law enforcement agencies are blocking access to at least 1,000 records of claims and lawsuits filed by people alleging misconduct by police officers.

LOS ANGELES (CN) A law enforcement and prison watchdog group sued the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office and the Sheriff’s Department on Thursday alleging a pattern of unlawful restricting of public access to misconduct claims and lawsuits against the agencies.
Five people have been arrested and charged in shooting Lady Gaga s dogwalker and stealing two of her French bulldogs in February.
Three suspects have been charged with attempted murder and robbery and two as accessories after the initial crime, according to a press release from the Los Angeles Police Department on Thursday.
One of the alleged accessories is Jennifer McBride, the 50-year-old woman who returned the singer s dogs to LAPD s Olympic Community Police Station two days after the armed robbery. Los Angeles Police Capt. Jonathan Tippet said in February that the woman who returned the dogs appeared to be uninvolved and unassociated with the incident.
