Santee firefighters make quick work of three small brush fires

SANTEE Firefighters battled three small brush fires Wednesday morning and early afternoon in Santee, with the largest of the blazes scorching about three or four acres of vegetation near the Trolley Square at Santee Town Center shopping center, fire officials said. The first blaze broke out in the morning at a homeless encampment on the north side of the city, Santee fire Chief John Garlow said. Crews made quick work of it, and it remained small. Around 1:15 p.m., the largest of the three blazes erupted off Riverview Parkway, just northeast of Trolley Square between San Diego Christian College and Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility, Garlow said.
