Michelle Lujan Grisham joined the state s top health officials this afternoon for a live-streamed press conference on the state s COVID-19 response.  As anticipated, the administration announced adjustments to the state s Red to Green framework, which enumerates different levels of public health restrictions based on each county s average daily cases and test positivity rates, yet went further than expected: Announcing a revised map with update criteria would be in place Friday, in anticipating of declaring New Mexico open as of June 30 when 60 percent of residents are projected to be fully vaccinated.  Additionally, the state s face mask mandate for all public spaces was adjusted to align with new guidance from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Three Las Cruces students nominated for statewide musical theatre awards From Staff Reports LAS CRUCES - Three Las Cruces students were selected as finalists for the two top honors in the Enchantment Awards, the New Mexico High School Musical Theatre Awards. Twenty total students were selected from throughout the state.  Morgyn Gallegos from Centennial High School is up for Best Actress and Ashton Taylor from Centennial High School and Matthew Taylor from Oñate High School are up for Best Actor.  The eight other nominees for Best Actor are Jonathan Cordova, from Public Academy of Performing Arts; Ayden Ghoreishi, from La Cueva High School; Logan Grady and Landon Grawrock, both from Portales High School; Dominic Lopez, from Cottonwood Classical Preparatory School; Tenzin Malaika-Huisman, representing Sandia Preparatory School; Noah Smith, also from Cottonwood Classical Preparatory School; and Jaaziah Vallano, representing Sandia High School.

They have usually featured reports by state health officials, as well, regarding new information pertaining to the disease or the state s data modeling as it tracks the disease and attempts to control community spread. Today s conference is likely to include updates about vaccine distribution throughout New Mexico.
