New Southwest Airlines route: Palm Springs to Las Vegas begins Sunday

Southwest Airlines on Sunday launched year-round service from Palm Springs, california, to Las Vegas.
There will initially be nonstop flights from Palm Springs International Airport to Las Vegas McCarran International Airport on Thursdays, Fridays, Sundays and Mondays. Daily flights will begin in June.
Palm Springs City Manager Justin Clifton said the new route is expected to provide economic benefits to the entire region. This new nonstop flight from Palm Springs to Las Vegas has been one of the most requested routes over the past decade, Clifton said. The Coachella Valley and our local hospitality and tourism partners will see a great economic benefit with this new service.

MIAMI – Yesterday, the no-frills Southwest Airlines (WN) first Boeing 737 aircraft touched down in Santa Barbara, carrying the inaugural load of passengers from Las Vegas.
Airways had the opportunity to be at the celebration and on board the inaugural one-hour and 15-min flight to Santa Barbara. With the new route, WN is poised to become the dominant carrier in the local market almost immediately after touching down at Santa Barbara Municipal Airport (SBA).

The terminals at Las Vegas McCarran International Airport (LAS) were pretty busy; we arrived at the airport in the midst of the early morning rush. When we got to gate B19 at terminal 1, there wasn’t much activity until 30 minutes before boarding time. WN Gate agents, managers, supervisors and public relations showed up at the gate with snacks, cups and poster boards for the flight.
BILLINGS, Mont. - In the last three weeks, TSA has discovered three firearms in carry on bags of people leaving Billings. Each of the firearms were discovered during the routine screening of carry on property at airport security.Â
Tuesday morning, TSA officers found a 9mm Glock G19 semi-automatic pistol loaded with 15 rounds, plus one in the chamber, in the bag of someone ticketed to leave for the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. Officers did interview the passenger and allowed him to continue on his flight.Â
On March 19, TSA officers found a .40 caliber Glock 23 handgun loaded with 13 rounds. The passenger was headed to the Denver International Airport.Â
