KARACHI:
The business community has been irked over the traffic management plan for Pakistan Super League (PSL) 6 and complained that it is incurring losses due to the traffic situation.
The business activities suffer badly during PSL days as the citizens of Karachi, after undergoing worst traffic conditions, prefer to somehow reach their homes only and refrain from visiting commercial markets, which brings down economic activity and causes immense losses to shopkeepers, lamented Businessmen Group Chairman Zubair Motiwala.
Although it is difficult to give the exact number for the losses suffered by the business community it could go up to billions of rupees as the large number of markets affected include Bahadurabad, Tariq Road and Millennium Mall etc where business activities suffer due to roadblocks, he added.
University Road and Sir Shah Muhammad Suleman Road will not be blocked during the Pakistan Super League cricket tournament matches at the National Stadium, home department and traffic police.
SHC asks why stadium should not be shifted outside city if closure of roads is necessary

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday directed the provincial home department and District East deputy commissioner to file comments on a petition against the closure of roads and streets around the Karachi Stadium during cricket matches.
The petition was filed during the closure of roads around the National Stadium during the recent Pakistan-South Africa test match. A division bench of the SHC headed by Justice Mohammad Ali Mazhar observed that citizens suffered a lot due to the closure of roads under the present traffic situation in the city.
