EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ East Brunswick Mayor Brad Cohen announced that the township will participate in the Nationwide memorial honoring those who lost their lives to COVID-19.
This memorial will coincide with a Washington, D.C. ceremony on Jan. 19, a day before President-elect Joe Biden s inauguration.
The event in East Brunswick will take place at 5.30 p.m. Township buildings will either be illuminated or have the inside lights on for five minutes.

Cohen has also encouraged local businesses and organization to illuminate their buildings. Additionally, places of worship have also been invited to ring bells for five minutes beginning 5. 30 p.m.
Joe Biden will become president of the United States at noon on Jan. 20 in a scaled-back inauguration ceremony. The City of New Orleans will take part in President-elect Joe Biden s memorial ceremony and national moment of unity recognizing lives lost to COVID-19.
New Orleans was invited to participate in the ceremony by the Presidential Inaugural Committee. The event will happen the night before the inauguration. President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris will lead this ceremony by lighting the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 19, 2021, at 4:30 p.m. (CST). The Presidential Inaugural Committee invited cities and towns around the country to light up their buildings and ring church bells as part of this national moment of unity and remembrance.
