The first solo museum show in New York devoted to the French-American artist Niki de Saint Phalle features art and ephemera from the wildly prolific artist, who worked across an array of mediums but is perhaps best known for her large, ebullient sculptures of women. In addition to sculptures, paintings, lithographs and jewellery, the real treat of the exhibition are the maquettes, photographs, and process videos from some of Saint Phalle’s most ambitious public projects, including playgrounds in Belgium and Jerusalem and a fountain in Paris. Among them are videos, photographs, drawings, models and other ephemera documenting the construction of Tarot Garden, Saint Phalle’s magnum opus which takes the form of a massive architectural park and sculpture garden outside of Rome, which the artist work

“Let Freedom Ring” is the title the Brooklyn Academy of Music has given to its public exhibition of images by seven Brooklyn-based artists as part of its 35th Annual Brooklyn Tribute to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The images appear through next Friday on the giant BAM sign (typically used to advertise upcoming shows and events) at the corner of Lafayette Avenue and Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn.
BAM Presents Virtual Programs Celebrating The Life And Legacy Of Dr King
Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) celebrates the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. To sustain the tradition while venues around the world remain closed, BAM will launch events virtually, connecting communities across the nation. This year s programs and events include the 35th Annual Brooklyn Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., featuring Alicia Garza, PJ Morton, Tarriona Tank Ball, and more. The program will be complemented by a digital film screening of William Greaves s newly-restored documentary Nationtime and the week-long public art installation Let Freedom Ring, a provocative exploration of the notion of freedom and the legacy of Dr. King. BAM Education will host a virtual watch party for teens-Drop the Mic: Dream, Speak, Act. Details on below.
