PLANS for a new student accommodation development in the city are back on the table, the Limerick Leader can today reveal.
Despite An Bord Pleanala rejecting proposals for a new multi-storey development at the old John Moloney garage by Punch’s Cross last year, Cloncarragh Developments has returned with a fresh planning application.
It will be made to the national planning authority this week – and due to the fact more than 100 units are being provided, it is being fast-tracked under laws designed to make the delivery of housing quicker.

After I did my Leaving Certificate in 2019, I decided to do a Level 5 Early Childhood Care and Education programme at Central College Limerick.
This programme was really beneficial to me and provided me with the knowledge and skills necessary to progress my studies. I am now undertaking a Level 8 Degree in Early Childhood Education and Care in the Limerick Institute of Technology.
Completing a Level 5 programme at Central College Limerick really prepared me for my current studies.
The dedicated tutors were always willing to help me if I needed it and I gained a lot of valuable experience from completing various assignments.

Elaine Carey stepped into the role of chief customer officer at Three in March 2020, leading the combined customer and marketing teams.
Carey’s role was created as part of a company restructure, which saw the chief marketing officer role cut and both the marketing and customer teams combined under the remit of the chief commercial officer – a new role at Three.
Carey joined from Three Ireland, where she had worked since 2007. At Three Ireland she was also CCO and was responsible for driving the company’s strategic commercial agenda.
Carey’s remit covers all consumer commercial areas and she is responsible for the sales strategy, digital and web strategy, marketing strategy and consumer PR alongside consumer propositions.

An EdTech psychology company to support parents and teachers, a software to save time and cost when building a website and a farm safety wearable device, were the big winners at the LIT New Frontiers Awards 2021.
A total of 14 new business leaders from the acclaimed New Frontiers programme showcased their start-up companies recently at a virtual ceremony hosted by Limerick Institute of Technology.
The LIT New Frontiers programme – funded by Enterprise Ireland, is the National Entrepreneur Development Programme with a support package worth €30,000. It is delivered by LIT at the Hartnett Enterprise Acceleration Centre for early-stage high potential start-ups.
