PETALING JAYA: Sunsuria Bhd and Victoria Education Sdn Bhd have entered into a joint-venture (JV) agreement to foray into the preschool education space.
Under the shareholders’ agreement between Victoria Education and Sunsuria’s wholly owned subsidiary Sunsuria Arena Sdn Bhd, both companies will incorporate a joint-venture company – with 70% and 30% shareholding respectively – to establish and operate preschools under the award-winning MindChamps PreSchool Ltd brand name.

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 21): The National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM) has criticized the government over the “untimely use” of Act 446 to ensure employers provide proper accommodation and amenities for workers, saying it adds unnecessary burden and costs to businesses struggling during the pandemic.
The chamber, in a statement today, said Putrajaya should give employers a longer grace period to comply with Act 446, which refers to the Emergency Ordinance (Workers’ Minimum Standards of Housing and Amenities Act).
The Act, which was gazetted on Feb 17, allows the Human Resources Ministry to delegate the enforcement of the new law to other ministries, and imposes stiffer penalties (fines up to RM200,000 or jail terms of up to three years or both) against employers or owners of accommodation for failing to provide proper housing facilities for workers.

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 10 The government finally announced yesterday the members of the Special Independent Emergency Committee 2021 (SIEC) that will advise the Yang di-Pertuan Agong when it would be feasible to lift the Emergency ahead of its scheduled end on August 1.

PETALING JAYA: The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) has revealed that it will help those affected by the pandemic, as it celebrates its 100-year history in contributing to the country’s development this year.
Its president Tan Sri Ter Leong Yap said the organisation would be leading an initiative to form a special task force comprising more than 100 business groups to help overcome the effects of the current health crisis.
