A Florida A&M University assistant professor was arrested on charges of alleged sexual abuse of a male minor that continued for years, investigators said.
Gari Tookes, 36, was arrested Thursday on charges of sexual battery, lewd and lascivious battery, and lewd and lascivious molestation, according to court records.
The Leon County Sheriff’s Office received information on Feb. 23 from the Florida Department of Children and Families about an alleged sexual battery, according to a press release Thursday.
Investigators with the Leon County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes division discovered that Tookes had criminal sexual contact with the victim for several years before the February report.
While the driver was on the phone with police, Adams backed the car which was suspended over three feet in the air off the truck and drove away, according to records. In the process of fleeing, Adams damaged a curb, the complex’s landscaping and struck a pole holding a utility box, police said.
He soon returned to the complex where after searching him, police found a plastic bag holding marijuana in his pocket, records show. He was then arrested and taken to the Leon County Detention Facility.
Since the car was in the tow truck driver s possession, Adams was charged with armed carjacking. Adams confirmed to police that he did have a gun, later found between a gutter and the wall of the building.
According to court records, Josh went live on Instagram video shortly before the shooting began, capturing the moments leading up to the shooting and the gunfire itself.
The incident stemmed from an earlier fight between Josh s friends and Anderson. Once Josh heard about the fight, he sought immediate “retribution, the arrest report says.
Josh, accompanied by two friends, wanted to confront Anderson at his house on Tuskegee Street. As the three were walking toward the house, Josh began streaming on Instagram Live.
“The video demonstrated that the victim began broadcasting as he was walking through the neighborhood,” court records read. “He was seen to be angrily cursing and making threatening comments towards (Anderson). The victim would hold the cellular telephone in such a manner to demonstrate where he was walking and his direction of travel.”

Florida Elections Commission general counsel arrested on child porn charges

The general counsel for the Florida Elections Commission was arrested Wednesday on charges of possession of child pornography, according to court records.
Eric M. Lipman, 59, was charged with 11 counts of the crime and taken to the Leon County Detention Facility.
Tim Vaccaro, executive director of the Elections Commission, confirmed Lipman s arrest in an email to the Tallahassee Democrat. The commission is fully cooperating with law enforcement’s investigation, Vaccaro said. The employee has been placed on administrative leave pending further information.

Papa-Assane Rue, 27, was arrested Tuesday on charges of tampering with physical evidence, failure to report a death and grand theft of a motor vehicle. On Thursday, the Leon County Sheriff’s Office added a count of premeditated murder against him.
Also Thursday, Rue’s girlfriend, Cassandra Hernandez, 26, was arrested as an accessory to a capital offense. Both are charged in the death of Antrae Lennon, 34, whose body was found with multiple stab wounds.
