Piedmont Henry now allowing one visitor per non-COVID-19 patient

STOCKBRIDGE – Piedmont Henry Hospital will allow one visitor per patient, per day, as long as the patient is not being treated for COVID-19, which has been Piedmont Healthcare’s policy since the start of the pandemic. Sharing a visitation day is not permitted. On Friday, Piedmont Henry staff will allow patients on inpatient units to have one visitor per day. The hospital’s emergency department will allow one visitor to accompany non-COVID patients. Outpatient services will allow one visitor to accompany a patient per visit. Patients and visitors arriving for lab or imaging procedures will receive a sticker with the day’s date after being screened. In Labor and Delivery, one identified support person will be allowed throughout the patient’s stay. In the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, only the mother and security band holder will be allowed. Visitation is allowed on these units 24/7.

Piedmont Henry opens infusion center for COVID-19 antibody treatment

STOCKBRIDGE – Piedmont Henry Hospital recently opened one of the state’s first infusion centers to administer bamlanivimab, a monoclonal antibody treatment for high-risk patients diagnosed with COVID-19 that do not require hospitalization and oxygen therapy. The infusion center, located on the hospital’s campus, provided treatments for 13 patients ranging in age from 34 to 92 and coming from areas all over metro Atlanta, over the first two days of operation. Piedmont Healthcare is now running four bamlanivimab infusion centers across Georgia. “We’re so pleased that we can provide this treatment for patients in need and help them avoid hospitalization and further complications due to COVID-19,” said Lily Henson, M.D., CEO of Piedmont Henry. “Our team has done an excellent job getting this center ready for patients in a short amount of time.”

Piedmont Henry doctors, nurses receive first COVID-19 vaccinations

STOCKBRIDGE — It’s a global Christmas gift come early, and medical staff at Piedmont Henry Hospital were some of the first in Henry County to receive it — the COVID-19 vaccination. The hospital’s first shipment arrived on Thursday and by Friday doctors and nurses working primarily in the emergency department and critical care units were inoculated. Hospital Communications Specialist Michael Boylan said 182 employees were vaccinated on the first day. Last week, Dr. Lily Henson, Piedmont Henry CEO, reported during an update to the Board of Commissioners, that the hospital is experiencing its third surge of COVID cases and more than 80 COVID patients were hospitalized.

STOCKBRIDGE – Piedmont Henry was awarded an ‘A’ in the fall 2020 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, a national distinction recognizing the hospital’s achievements protecting patients from harm and providing safer health care. Piedmont Henry was one of seven Piedmont hospitals receiving the recognition. The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization committed to health care quality and safety. The Safety Grade assigns an ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’, ‘D’ or ‘F’ grade to all general hospitals across the country and is updated every six months. It is based on a hospital’s performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections and other harms to patients in their care.
