Sepp van den Berg has completed a half-season loan move to Preston North End, with the Dutchman potentially staying at the Championship club for up to 18 months.
Van den Berg has endured a tough time at Liverpool so far, having struggled to make an impression since his £1.3 million move from PEC Zwolle in 2019.
This season has seen the 19-year-old largely train and play for the under-23s, and there has been a major improvement in his game as he has buckled down, honed his strengths and worked on his weaknesses.
When the winter transfer window came, it was clear Van den Berg would benefit from a loan spell away from Merseyside, with clubs in England, Germany, Belgium and Switzerland interested.

Liverpool have completed the signings of centre-back Stefan Bajcetic and left-back Calum Scanlon to join their academy ranks, hours before the new Brexit rules come in.
From January 1, when the UK officially leaves the EU, clubs in England will no longer be able to sign players under the age of 18 from overseas.
There will also be a limit on the number of foreign signings under 21, while work permit regulations will apply to all signings regardless of age – though the majority of top-flight additions would still qualify.
That left Liverpool chasing a deal with Celta Vigo for 16-year-old centre-back Bajcetic until the final hours of the pre-Brexit window, following the arrivals of youngsters Melkamu Frauendorf, Mateusz Musialowski, Marcelo Pitaluga and Fabian Mrozek in the summer.

Liverpool Rumors: Reds Nearing Transfer Deal For First Signing Of January
KEY POINTS
The Birmingham City youngster will join Liverpool Academy
The Reds are also interested in Lille star Sven Botman
Liverpool is all set to complete the transfer of Birmingham City’s Calum Scanlon, who is likely to become the club’s first signing of the January window.
The reigning English Premier League champions haven’t made quite a buzz in their recruitment ahead of the upcoming transfer window. But suddenly, the Reds are closing in on the transfer of Scanlon, having agreed to a fee of nearly £500,000 ($670,000), The Times reported.
Former Premier League striker, Rudy Gestede became Victory’s third overseas signing in November.
Brebner believes Gestede “ticked all the boxes” and will add another dimension to Victory’s attacking ranks.
The 32-year-old recently played for Middlesbrough in the English Championship and has also represented Cardiff City, Blackburn Rovers and Aston Villa.
Ryan Shotton
Last week Melbourne Victory concluded its pre-season business with the signing of Ryan Shotton.
The defender has played for several English clubs including Stoke City, Derby County and most recently, Middlesbrough – where he linked up with fellow newcomer, Gestede.
“While Ryan has made a career of playing in defence, given his height and strength in the air he can push forward for set pieces and is a real threat around goal,” said Brebner.
