A MAN has been jailed for carrying out a knifepoint robbery at a supermarket in Cheshire. Daniel Flanagan, 22, approached a cashier in the occupied store at about 8.15pm on Monday, November 23, last year. He demanded cash and told the man working behind the till that he had a knife. Flanagan, of Rivenmill Way, Widnes, then produced a bread knife from his trouser pocket and was subsequently given the cash from the till by the supermarket’s manager off Derby Road. After discovering that there was no cash in the other till, he fled the store on foot. The robbery was reported to the police.

Joseph William Twist, of Windle Grove, Windle indicated a guilty plea to having a kitchen knife on him in a public place on June 24 last year. He also admitted to using threatening words or behaviour towards two other people on the same date. Twist, 18, was committed for sentence at Liverpool Crown Court on Wednesday, March 3 and given unconditional bail until then.

The suspected boss of a gang has been extradited from the United Arab Emirates on drugs and guns charges three years after leaving Britain for Dubai.
Leon Cullen, 33, was arrested in Dubai in January and brought back to the UK by National Extradition Unit officers on Friday.
Yesterday he appeared at Liverpool Magistrates Court in connection with a number of offences including conspiracies to supply firearms, ammunition and class A drugs.
Cullen, from Warrington, has been remanded in custody until his next appearance at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday 22 March.
