About: Christ University
Christ University was started as a college called Christ College in 1969. It is administrated by the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), a Catholic Congression founded by an educationalist and social reformer, St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara in 1831. The college was established based on his educational vision. University Grants Commission gave the university an autonomous title in 2004. In 2006 the college was identified as an Institution with Potential for Excellence. The college was declared as Deemed To Be University by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) in 2008.
Christ University is accredited with “A” grade by National Assesment and Accreditation Council [NAAC] in 1998, 2004 and 2016. Christ University was one of the first institutions in India to be accredited in 1998 by NAAC.
