Highland contractor charged with stealing thousands from clients

A Highland man is facing criminal charges after police say he stole credit cards and checks from two families whose homes he was working on.  Kenneth Hill, 33, was charged early last month with three counts of uttering and publishing and two counts of larceny from a building in two separate cases. He is also charged with forgery, larceny of $20,000 or more and fraudulent use of a financial transaction device.  In one case, Hill drained a woman s checking account, a Livingston County Sheriff Office deputy said in an April hearing that led to charges. The woman said she realized a total of five checks were taken from her check book, four of which were forged using her husband s signature totaling just under $10,000.

Brighton man headed to trial on charges of rape, unlawful imprisonment

Brighton man headed to trial on charges of rape, unlawful imprisonment A Brighton man is headed to trial on charges of sexual assault after a Livingston County judge determined there was enough evidence to bind the case over. Joseph Santana, 31, was arraigned on Feb. 28 on two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count each of unlawful imprisonment, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and resisting, obstructing police. On Wednesday, Andrea Del Vecchio, a nurse, testified the reported victim had multiple injuries and duct tape residue on her body.  The victim told Del Vecchio that Santana said you want this, despite her telling him multiple times to stop during the assault, Del Vecchio testified.

Inkster lawmaker Jones to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon

The Livingston County Prosecutor s Office will continue to investigate allegations against Michigan State Rep. Jewell Jones, negating the prospect of a Wednesday arraignment in Livingston County District Court, the office said in a Wednesday press release. Livingston County District Court said earlier Wednesday the Inkster Democrat would be arraigned Wednesday afternoon, but the prosecutor s office said the matter is still under investigation.  A search of Michigan State Police criminal history files shows Brighton Post troopers on Tuesday requested warrants in relation to Jones for obstructing police, a misdemeanor weapons offense and a misdemeanor traffic offense. Michigan State Police have so far declined comment on Jones case, but Michigan State Police Metro Detroit posted on Twitter shortly before 1 p.m. that Brighton Post troopers responded to a crash in Livingston County on Tuesday along Interstate 96 and arrested a 25-year-old Inkster man.
