Michigan State Rep. Jewell Jones Arrested 7 Apr 2021 A local police source confirmed Michigan state Rep. Jewell Jones (D) was arrested Tuesday night, though authorities have yet to reveal any charges. Jones reportedly spent Tuesday night in jail, according to sources for Fox 2 and the Detroit Free Press. The 25-year-old Jones is in his third term, representing the 11th District, comprising Garden City, Inkster, as well as portions of Dearborn Heights, Livonia, and Westland. Michigan State Police remain officially silent on the identity of a 25-year-old man taken into custody last night, but the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office did say Jones was released from custody Wednesday morning. According to reporting by Fox 2’s Jessica Dupnack, “sources say investigators are waiting on a toxicology report.”

April 6, 2021 By Jon King / jking@whmi.com A Brighton Township man has been bound over for trial on attempted murder charges after authorities say he tried to electrocute his wife and poison his kids. 35-year old Bradley James Crainer was arrested last September after the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office determined that he had opened a natural gas line inside his vacant home in a failed attempt to destroy it. The investigation further revealed that he placed what was called an “injurious substance” into a family member’s meal that caused that person to become temporarily ill. That substance was revealed to be Benadryl he allegedly mixed into a smoothie for his wife and children, and later a glass of wine he urged his wife to drink.

April 6, 2021 By Jon King / jking@whmi.com A deal could be in the works to clear the record of a Pinckney man charged after a high-speed police chase. 23-year-old Jon Patrick Dethloff was charged last month with fleeing and eluding as well as carrying a concealed weapon for the February 28th incident. The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office says one of its deputies attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Dethloff near Fowlerville because it did not have a license plate. He reportedly fled onto westbound I-96, although the pursuit was terminated at the Livingston/Ingham County line. However, approximately a half-hour later, that same vehicle was observed near Grand River and Gregory Road in Handy Township. When a deputy attempted to stop it, the vehicle again fled, eventually heading northbound on Fowlerville Road, where it became disabled after striking a deer north of Sharpe Road. WHMI 93 5 Local News : Expansion Project Planned At Fowlerville Proving Grounds

April 2, 2021 A large expansion project is planned at a test track near Fowlerville. FT Techno of America, the Fowlerville Proving Ground, is an independent proving ground and testing company on a 950-acre facility just south of Fowlerville that’s open year-round. Senior Manager of Operations Mike Benjamin says the facility is rented out to really the entire auto industry and they currently have around 50 different suppliers and auto manufacturers that use them, along with testing and engineering services. Benjamin says they were granted site plan approval by the Handy Township board recently to start construction on two new test tracks, marking a $10 (M) million investment. He says their overall investment to date since opening in 2005 is about $100 (M) million. The new tracks include a 1.3-mile handling course on the east side property and a variety of new ride comfort surfaces on the west side of the property.
