BATON ROUGE - Sheriff s deputies uncovered a ring of illegal marijuana growers across two parishes Wednesday.
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff s Office said it raided six properties across EBR and Livingston parishes, including warehouses where deputies found grow set-ups inside. The sheriff s office said it discovered the drug ring after getting a tip from the Pike County Sheriff s Office in Mississippi.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A judge has denied a motion put forth by the defense for Cynthia and Dennis Perkins to suppress evidence collected during the stateâs investigation into sex crimes the couple is accused of carrying out against children.
Attorneys for both Cynthia, a former Livingston Parish teacher, and Dennis Perkins, a former high-ranking officer with the Livingston Parish Sheriffâs Office argued that the date of a tip investigators used in an initial search warrant to examine the Perkinsâ computers and hard drives in 2019 was incorrect. LIVINGSTON PARISH - A man arrested last month after allegedly arranging an inappropriate meeting with a child is now facing charges in two parishes.
Investigators say Darrel Lee, 47, used a messaging app to communicate with a girl about meeting at her house on Feb. 13. Her parents got suspicious and called the Livingston Parish Sheriff s Office. Lee was arrested before he could see the child.
Lee was booked with indecent behavior with a juvenile and computer-aided solicitation of a minor and was released two days later on $75,000 bond.

LIVINGSTON PARISH - Dennis Perkins, a former SWAT leader at the Livingston Parish Sheriff s Office, was slated to appear in court Friday (Feb. 26) morning, but the court appearance was later rescheduled for March 12.
The case against he and his wife, a former Livingston Parish school teacher, revolve around multiple allegations of sexual misconduct involving children.
His Friday court appearance would have been for a motions hearing. The court date was scheduled in the midst of contention between his attorney and his wife, Cynthia s, attorneys.
