Can Geo Challenge 2021 National Final Weekend

Meet the top 20 finalists competing in the 2021 Challenge National Final May 27, 2021 It’s been a difficult year for students across Canada, navigating distance learning and COVID-19 restrictions, but that hasn’t stopped some of them from taking on new challenges. Thousands of students participated in this year’s 26 th annual Canadian Geographic Challenge. After months of hard work and hundreds of questions on all things geography-related, 20 student have risen to the top to compete for the title of National Champion.   The Challenge is open to Canadian students in grades 7-10 and features a series of classroom, school and provincial/territorial rounds before culminating in the National Final. This weekend, the country’s brightest young geographers will be tested on their knowledge, critical thinking and practical skills. Akwa Udoeyop, 10, Elmdale Public School I don t have to wear a mask . because I m in my home, observes 10-year-old Akwa Udoeyop. On his desk sits a Chromebook surrounded by Lego. On the floor there s a hockey net, a shooting pad and a yoga mat.  There are upsides to learning from home, according to Udoeyop. He gets to sleep in an extra hour, and he doesn t have to worry about packing a lunch or rushing to the bus stop. I just have to log on and go to the meeting, he said. And I can grab a snack at any time.
