Man accused of cultivating $17 8m cannabis deemed flight risk

Premium Content Subscriber only A VIETNAMESE man allegedly involved in the cultivation of an estimated $17.79 million dollars worth of cannabis has had his bail refused due to him being an unacceptable flight risk . Trong Tung Tran and his three co-accused, Khac Ngoc Mai, Kien Sy Ngo and Giang Hoang are each charged with cultivating a prohibited plant with a large commercial quantity and participating in a criminal group activity. Mr Tran faced Lismore Local Court on December 24 for a bail hearing, during which his defence lawyer argued the conditions of bail would be like house arrest . The street value of the cultivation had previously been estimated at $21.6 million.

Couple accused of fire fraud must stay in Lismore, Casino

It will allow the procurement of a 90-page interview transcript deemed crucial to the hearing. The transcript details an interview from the complainant and due to its length, and Lismore Local Court being evacuated twice due to a fire alarm yesterday, more time was needed before the bail claim was assessed. The 29-year old senior constable is facing three charges of aggravated sexual intercourse with a child between 14-16. The Professional standards Command (PSC) investigators established Strike Force Yalu in September to investigate reports of misconduct by the policeman, who is attached to the Northern Region.
