A slew of highly anticipated titles are hitting Hulu this February.
The Lee Daniels-directed film The United States vs. Billie Holiday, which showcases the life of the iconic jazz musician and the impact of her famous song, Strange Fruit, arrives on the platform on Feb. 26.
The flick Antebellum, starring Janelle Monáe, which film critic Peter Travers describes as a socially conscious horror film with systemic racism as the monster, hits Hulu on Feb. 5.

Ahead of her starring role in the film, Day and her signature vocals militantly address the state of our nation on the track that was co-written by music icon
Raphael Saadiq.

“Tigress & Tweed” follows Day’s cover of Billie Holiday’s protest song, “Strange Fruit.” Day believes if Holiday were still living today, she’d want to see the evolution of one of her most controversial songs.

Andra’s vulnerable take on the anti-lynching song evokes the same raw emotion Holiday’s version did when it was released in 1939. The haunting song, which compares lynching victims to “strange fruit” hanging from trees, marked a defining moment in Holiday’s career and continues to be one of the most powerful and evocative protest songs ever written. Holliday’s performance of the song also made her a target of the FBI.
