Watch now: Rep Rodney Davis describes being in the Capitol as the mob stormed inside

DECATUR — U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis, R-Taylorville, has witnessed firsthand how far political extremists will go to silence those they view as enemies and he doesn t like what he sees. He was on a baseball field with his congressional colleagues when a man with a gun opened fire on them. A disgruntled constituent called his Decatur office, leaving a voice message threatening to kill him. And last week he was in the U.S. Capitol when it was stormed by a mob of President Donald Trump supporters, leading to the death of five people and putting the country even more on edge.

This is the moment Stop the Steal protesters in support of President Donald Trump breached security on the steps of the U.S. Capitol as Congress was in session, where top lawmakers and Vice President Mike Pence were present. WASHINGTON — Bethany resident Neal Marshall, 62, and his friends Gary Clem, 70, and Al Rennert, 69, were in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday to demonstrate their frustrations along with thousands of others. “We’re here because of the steal,” Marshall said. “We’re all fed up with it.” The three men were among the crowds near the Washington Monument and listened to President Donald Trump s speech. Decatur shoppers spend weekend snatching up bargains on holiday goodies

DECATUR — The holidays may be over, but that hasn’t stopped Christmas  shoppers. With the holiday landing on a Friday, that left the rest of the weekend for shoppers to snatch up the bargains on holiday items for use next year, even before the Christmas tree was taken down. Now living in Chicago, Miranda Archer, 26, returned to Decatur for a family holiday. She and her grandma took a trip to a local department store on Sunday knowing they could find at least one holiday bargain. “I was looking for tissue paper,” Archer’s grandma Linda Gross said. “I didn’t plan on buying anything,” Archer said.
