It might not be something most people are aware of but stray ground current is a real issue and can be deadly for livestock.
Chatham-Kent-Leamington MPP Rick Nicholls has been working on the issue for years.
“My main motivator for this was a gentleman from just north of Chatham, Lee Montgomery, Lee back in the 80s had prized dairy cattle that suddenly became ill,” Nicholls says “It was determined that it was stray current that in fact was slowly killing his prized dairy cattle and eventually he lost his entire herd.”
Nicholls says it affects dairy and beef cattle, hogs, and goat farmers as well.

Public schools in New Mexico started fully in-person classes this month for the first time in over a year. Some students chose to stay remote, others returned, and some of those who went back are already remote again due to COVID exposure. On this week’s Let’s Talk New Mexico, we’re hearing from students about how it’s going.
If you’re a student who went back in person, have you felt safe? If you decided to stay online, why? and is it different than before? And parents, what are you hearing from your kids?

“By the year 2000, no young woman artist will meet the determined resistance and constant undermining that I endured as a student… . She will never feel like a provisional guest at the banquet of life.” So predicted the groundbreaking feminist artist and writer Carolee Schneemann (1939-2019) in an essay from the 1970s. Schneemann began her career in New York City in the early 1960s. In those days, male painters stole her brushes and books, claiming that, as men and
real artists, they needed her materials much more than she did. The realities and challenges of women’s lives became the driving force behind Schneemann’s pioneering artwork.
