Panjabi will play Asha, according to Deadline, who notes that details about the new character are being kept under wraps. Set more than seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland,  Snowpiercer centers on the remnants of humanity who inhabit a perpetually moving train, with 1001 cars, that circles the globe. Center Theatre Group raises $700,000 on Zoom with Quarantunes

If cash-strapped theater companies can make it to summer, maybe, just maybe, they can reopen the door to the joys of a live, in-person audience. Until then, stages that have been dark since the pandemic began almost a year ago have some serious financial catching-up to do. So it was with no small amount of happiness that Center Theatre Group this week said it had generated more than $700,000 through a single fundraising event: a boisterous Zoom party featuring an impressive list of theater makers and celebrities. The event was part of the RWQuarantunes program, launched last year by WME partner Richard Weitz and his teenage daughter, Demi, to raise money for groups devastated by coronavirus shutdowns.
