Two teams from Santa Fe College worked with colleges in Jordan in a competition through a virtual exchange program this Spring to produce business concepts for sustainable development in technology without jeopardizing future generations.
April 22, 2021 – Out of a total of 27 teams, two Santa Fe College teams that competed in Cohort IV of the Global Solutions Sustainability Challenge have been selected winners. Global Solutions is a virtual exchange program funded by the U.S. Department of State though the Stevens Initiative, which is administered by the Aspen Institute. The program was started in the Fall of 2019 and has brought together over 2000 students from the United States, Jordan and Iraq. The binational teams that SF students participated in won first and third place.
The binational team led by Dr. Clay Smith allowed SF students in the B.S. in Accounting and B.A.S. in Organizational Management programs to collaborate with students at Al-Hussein Technical University in Amman, Jordan. AGFE philanthropic initiatives address Arab youth unemployment March 3, 2021
Arab youth unemployment remains a major challenge across the region. According to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for West Asia, the unemployment rate in the region increased by 1.2 per cent in 2020.
To address the youth unemployment dilemma requires collaboration among all stakeholders and a focus on the full education-to-employment pathway, according to Dr Sonia ben Jaafar, CEO of the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation for Education (AGFE).
