On 12-26-2020 at 17:14 hours, Marion Police Officers responded to a report of two deceased individuals found by a family member in the garage of a home located in the 1200 block of E. Center Street Marion.
The deceased persons were determined to a be a married couple who were also residents of the home. Marion PD Investigators, working in conjunction with the Marion County Coroner’s Office conducted an investigation at the scene and identified the deceased as Amy Berry, age 42 and Max Berry, age 44.
“This is a horrible tragedy in every conceivable way”, said Major Jeff Clewell, Commander of the MPD Criminal Investigations Division. “While this investigation is still in its’ infancy, the early details indicate that Mr. Berry shot and killed his wife prior to turning the gun on himself”.

LIMA The November shooting death of a Lima juvenile was a case of self-defense, an Allen County grand jury determined this month.
A joint press release issued Monday by the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and Lima Police Department confirmed that Mekhi Williams died Nov. 18 of multiple gunshot wounds, but grand jurors determined the shooter, Zachary Copeland, was justified in his actions. He was not charged.
On Nov. 18, officers from the Lima Police Department responded to a fatal shooting in the 300 block of South Scott Street. Upon their arrival officers found the 16-year-old Williams deceased.
Middle Point couple gets jail time in daughter’s accidental death

VAN WERT The parents of a Middle Point girl who died in an accidental shooting in April have been sentenced to short jail terms, house arrest and intensive probation.
Richard Curtis Moore and Kaitlyn Burgoon, each 23 years of age, pleaded guilty in Van Wert Common Pleas Court in September to misdemeanor charges of endangering children. They had previously entered pleas of not guilty to third-degree felony charges of endangering children in the death of their 4-year-old daughter, Aubrie Moore, who died April 9 after gaining access to a handgun in the family home.
