Grambling State University and Louisiana Tech University graduates missing their college towns are in for a treat. The City of Ruston is offering $10,000 to talented graduates if they move back to the area.
Ruston Mayor Ronny Walker announced details for the Welcome to Ruston program at a press conference Tuesday, explaining that the city will award $10,000 to each of 25 households who move within a 3-mile radius of Ruston. Applicants must be remote workers who live outside a 100-mile radius of Ruston. Ruston is the first city in the state to enact a financial incentive program like this. The main thing is all of a sudden, we bring some new people into our city, especially people who are working remotely, Walker said. It s a great way to bring some new life, if you will. Just like the college kids who come to Tech and Grambling bring energy, same thing happens with this.
