Abbeville man dies after fire, explosion at New Iberia workshop
The Louisiana State Fire Marshal s Office is investigating after a man was killed in a fire at a New Iberia workshop.
The New Iberia Fire Department was called at about 1 p.m. Sunday to a fire and explosion at the workshop in the 5500 block of Claude Viator Road.
Firefighters found two men who had moderate injuries and a third man who had serious injuries, said fire marshal spokesperson Ashley Rodrigue. All three were taken to a local hospital.
The 63-year-old Abbeville man who had serious injuries died Monday at the hospital. He has not yet been identified.

Youngsville Fire Department said in a statement. While only a portion of the building burned, the entire restaurant suffered smoke and water damage, Bourrée s owner said.

Blair Rivette said the cause is believed to be spontaneous combustion from towels and aprons that were stuffed into an enclosed bag and placed in the storeroom while still hot from being dried.
The Lafayette Fire Department conducted the investigation into the cause of the fire, he said.
