WIND LAKE, Wis. - Bobbi Mangan of Wind Lake, Wisconsin won $500,000 from a scratch-off ticket she purchased at GP 4 Petroleum LLC located on Loomis Road in Wind Lake.
Initially, Mangan thought she won $25,000 from a scratch-off ticket. She counted the nine words on her crossword ticket and looked forward to receiving her winnings. What the woman missed was the tenth word on the $30 Super Mega Star Crossword game ‘END.’ With 10 words, she actually had a top prize-winning ticket worth $500,000.
Mangan, a loyal Lottery player, was thrilled with bigger than expected prize. It pays to play, said Mangan You can’t win if you don’t play.
Labs improve DNA turnaround, tool mark cases taking 3 years

MADISON, Wis. - Wisconsin s beleaguered crime labs improved their turnaround times on DNA and ballistics testing last year but took longer to complete drug and tool mark analysis, according to a state Justice Department report released Thursday.
The data represents a mixed bag for Attorney General Josh Kaul as he heads into campaign season. Kaul ran in 2018 on a pledge to improve the labs efficiency and last year promised dramatically improved turnarounds. Kaul said during a news conference he was pleased with the labs performance, especially since analysts spent 2020 juggling a mix of staggered at-home and in-lab shifts because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
DHS: 943 new positive cases of COVID-19 in WI; 3 new deaths

MADISON, Wis. - The number of positive cases of COVID-19 in Wisconsin rose by 943 Thursday, April 15, state health officials reported, for a total of 588,504.
Officials with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) reported three new deaths Thursday, with a total of 6,698 deaths in the state.
Of the positive cases, 28,393 have required hospitalization (4.8%), while 572,354 have recovered (97.3%), making for 9,208 active cases (1.6%).
More than 2.7 million people have been tested. More than 3.3 million have been tested.
Police: 2 arrested after fleeing Mount Pleasant crash

MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. - Two people were arrested after fleeing a crash Thursday morning, April 15 in Mount Pleasant.
Police were called to the intersection of Spring and Newman around 10:30 a.m. due to a two-vehicle crash involving a Saturn and a Toyota.
Upon investigation, officers determined the driver and passenger of one of the vehicles took off on foot after the crash. Officers located the individuals, with citizen help, and apprehended them after a short foot chase.
The driver has been identified as a 20-year-old from Racine, and faces charges that include hit-and-run causing injury, bail jumping and operating without a license. The passenger, a 20-year-old from Mount Pleasant, faces a resisting arrest charge. Both were taken to the Racine County Jail.
