Truckers to hit more flooding in South Central states

Lake Charles, Louisiana, had a daily record 12.49 inches of rain Monday, which became the third-wettest day in the city’s history. So far, it’s the also the city’s third-wettest May on record. Major flooding prompted water rescues, and Gov. John Bel Edwards issued a state of emergency.
Tuesday, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development shut down a section of Interstate 10 near Baton Rouge because of flooding.
Wednesday was relatively calm, but areas of massive rain amounts could return Thursday.

Threatening conditions continued into Tuesday as storms meandered across the region. A significant line of showers and thunderstorms is moving into metro NOLA. A flash flood warning is in effect for parts of the Westbank and additional warnings are possible, the National Weather Service New Orleans area tweeted Tuesday. Please use extreme caution on area roadways!
The agency s Weather Prediction Center said that a frontal boundary across the Gulf Coast states interacting with moist inflow from the Gulf of Mexico would create showers and thunderstorms, leading to the potential for scattered flash floods, a flash flood watch and a slight risk of excessive rainfall into Wednesday.
